Music video genres:
- Indie/ Rock- It is a genre of alternative rock bands, who construct a 'rebellious' attude giving off the implication that they are 'orginal' and 'badass'. Indie rock was extremely diverse, with subgenres that include indie pop, jangle pop, and lo-fi, among others. Indie rock bands dress in dark shaded colours, mostly the colour black and are likely to own leather outrfits. The rock genre usually revolve around the topics of drugs, sex and rock n' roll. Indie music is low budgeted and often has a niche audience as only some people like the distinctive style of music as it's very diverse. Indie music videos tends to have two aspect s of convention such as performance base with a slight narrative running throughout the video
- Electronic- Electronic music is music that employs electronic musical instruments and electronic music technology in its production, an electronic musician being a musician who composes and/or performs such music. Electronic music hardly have any lyrical concept, however when they do, the phrases are often repeated over and over. In electronic music videos, strobe lighting effects are often portrayed with an upbeat atmosphere.
Pop- Pop music (a term that originally derives from an abbreviation of "popular") is a genre of popular music, which originated in its modern form in the Western world during the 1950s and 1960s, deriving from rock and roll. It appeals to a broad audience. The artist tends to dress in fashionable and stylish designer outfits, following the current trends. Most song containing the pop genre tend to be very upbeat and happy, therefore it would usually accosicate with bright bold colours.
Hip Hop- Hip hop music, also called hip-hop or rap music, it consists of a stylized rhythmic music that commonly accompanies rapping, a rhythmic and rhyming speech that is chanted. The artists outfit tend to wear baggy clothing / sport jerseys with heavy jewellery such as 'bling' to stylise themselves. The setting usually set in clubs with crowds of people dancing and stereotypically, women are sexualised. To add to that, in this genre they tend to focus on the artist in more low angle shots, portraying that the artist have power. Overall, the lyrics tend to emphasise the topics of money, cars and girls, signifying their status.
Jazz- A style of music, native to America, characterized by a strong but flexible rhythmic understructure with solo and ensemble improvisations on basic tunes and chord patterns and, more recently, a highly sophisticated harmonic idiom. It exists in a number of styles, e.g. blues, hard pop, mainstream, modern jazz etc.
